The Advent

A conceptual, almost surrealistic, series of landscape photographs influenced by fiction stories of travel in space and time. These photographs depict my interpretation as to whether something that is happening around us is easily perceptible. As Carlo Rovelli once argued, we can think of the world made up of things or events?

The world is made of events, not thingsEvents means change and kinesis and not stasis. The difference between events and things is that things persist in time while events have a limited duration. For instance, the stones depicted in my photographs are things; we can ask our selves where these stones will be tomorrow but, the light is an event and makes no sense to ask where this light will be tomorrow. The light travels and changes with time and therefore it happened there.

The absence of human form within my photographs, though a portrait photographer, manifests exactly this: we can not alway notice what is happening or perhaps we aren’t trained to do so. We are oblivious of the salient advents as our attention is deliberately turned, I would risk to say, by masters of deception, to more materialistic things of life.

Nevertheless, it is of the greatest concerns for contemporary photographers to produce images vigorous enough to entertain spectators but, sometimes there is something else concealed in photographs. What are the events taking place, or differently what is really happening, is meticulously hidden within those photographs by utilising the time.
