Chromatica Magazine (‘Chromatica’) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. Our aim is to be clear and open about what we do and why.

Who are we?

Chromatica is an online magazine dedicated to photography, fashion and the visual arts.

Chromatica is wholly owned by Dimitris Theocharis, trading as Dimitris Theocharis Photography. 

Chromatica’s key objective is to support, promote and champion diversity and sustainability in fashion and the visual arts, bringing ideas together through the medium of technology, magazines and books. Chromatica’s customer base are those with an interest in photography, fashion and the visual arts, including creatives, designers those interested in promoting contemporary artists and creators.

Chromatica produces a monthly magazine and an annual book for the marketplace and aims to conduct ongoing research and inform debate and discussion in relation to key challenges facing fashion and the visual arts, including environmental sustainability, diversity and the introduction and promotion of contemporary creators, whose work is not yet widely known. 

Chromatica invests in all of the above and leads the way as the fashion and art industries wake up to the opportunities that flow from their role and responsibilities in creating sustainable and diverse visual media, as well as supporting new artists.

What information do we collect? 

Chromatica only collects personal information if we have your permission or we have reasonable legitimate reasons for doing this, such as collecting information to process email and magazine subscriptions, partnership agreements and online purchases. Chromatica may also use the details of its subscribers and followers to supply them with relevant updates and industry news. Chromatica will only collect the information we need to enable us to fulfil these processes.

Data that we collect will include name, job title, company name and address, email address, telephone number, purchasing history, content you read on our magazine website plus various other relevant data. This data may be collected when you register to subscribe to Chromatica’s magazine, news and updates, enter in to a partnership agreement with Chromatica, use our website, use our social media (including share functions), download a piece of content, on completion of a survey, or by communication to us by email, telephone and by other means.

When you pay us, we will record details of the financial transaction but do not directly store your debit or credit card information. Online payments are made through our websites but are processed securely by a third-party payment provider Stripe.

If you use our website we may record your IP address, registration details and your browsing history such as the pages you have visited within our site. If you sign up for content/marketing messages we may track your response e.g. open a newsletter or click on a link in a newsletter or the pages you visit.

For contractors, we keep personal data needed to work with you, pay you and to fulfil our legal obligations.

We do not share personal data with 3rd parties for marketing purposes, other than with the direct consent of the individual(s) which may be withdrawn at any time.

Information we receive from other sources

We work closely with third parties (including, for example, business partners, sub-contractors in technical, payment and delivery services, advertising networks, analytics providers, search information providers, credit reference agencies, and research companies) and may receive information about you from them.

How we use your information

Customer administration: Part of the personal data is used for the provision of information, communications or transaction services such as placing an order and delivering content or services to you.

Sales and marketing activity: We primarily use data to communicate with you, share updates and news that might interest you, to improve our content, to verify your identity when taking payment, send you subscription or membership information and supply you with content, digital and print products which you have subscribed to or to meet legal, regulatory and compliance requirements. The channels we will use to communicate with you can include email, calls, social media and postal.

We give you the opportunity to opt out of receiving marketing communications and we will, in certain circumstances, need to obtain your consent before sending such communications to you. Further detail can be found in each marketing communication sent by Chromatica Magazine.

Profiling: We will use elements of the information that you provide to enable us to send you more targeted messages. For example, we may use your email to send you information which may be relevant to you or your interests.

Any other purposes for which we wish to use your personal data will be notified to you and your personal data will not be used for any such purpose without obtaining your prior consent.

How we obtain your personal data

Chromatica Magazine offers the opportunity for its visitors to submit their details via a short form (e.g. to request news and updates).

From cookies: We use cookies on our website that identify you when you visit us and tell us what pages you are viewing. We also use the information to trigger sales and marketing activity.

From social media: If you choose to communicate to us via any of the social media platforms.

Verbal and written communications: When you send us an email, call or write a letter or if we meet you face to face.

Third parties: We sometimes receive personal data from third parties.

Disclosure of your information

We may share your information with selected third parties for the specific purposes of organising logistics and marketing communications for Chromatica Magazine content or distributing communications with you about the products and services you are subscribing to.

We share your information with analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our site.

In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.

If Chromatica Magazine or one of its products is acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.

How long do we keep your data for?

We will retain your information for as long as is necessary to provide you with the services that you have requested from us, or for as long as the law otherwise permits. When the data is no longer required for the purpose of processing it was acquired for, it will be securely deleted from all of our systems.
