My name is George Wilson and I am 19 years old form west London. I am currently studying Environmental studies at the University Of Leeds. I have loved fitness throughout my life and played Rugby for the majority of my teenage life.
When did you start modelling?
I started modelling when I was 16 and just about to start my A levels.
How did you get scouted?
I was scouted when I was at a festival in summer of 2017. My agent was the person who approached me and I’m still with him to this day.
Who are the models you aspire(d) to?
Kit Butler. Looking at his career he has worked with some of the top brands and has be able to travel the world which is what I love about modelling.
What would be your dream modelling job?
It would love to do a fragrance campaign for a brand like Versace. Their previous campaigns have been in amazing locations with top photographers and teams.
In an industry that is based on appearances, how do you handle negative comments and rejection?
At the beginning it used to bother me a lot. However, now I have simply learnt that the industry is full of rejection so you should never take it to heart. There are more important things in life than modelling.
From your perspective, how do you think the fashion industry can improve?
I think the way models are treated in terms of communication can be drastically improved. Sometimes you can be waiting for a job confirmation and you only know you’ve been released because it’s passed the shoot date, instead of being told you haven’t got the job. This can be quite demoralising and frustrating.
What’s your favourite project/shoot you’ve done so far?
My favourite job was by far a Versace show in Milan. However, I also loved doing an online piece for The Rakish Gent on Bondi beach. The scenery and images were amazing.
Tell us something we wouldn’t know by looking at your portfolio?
I enjoy playing the piano (on and off) and have done from a young age
What’s your favourite feature? (Physical or character)
I have never let the industry get the best of me. In the highs it’s very easy to get carried away (cocky) and forget about what’s important. But in the lows I also remember it’s just a job and there’s more to life.
What’s you motto in life.
Make sure in 10 years time you don’t look back and wish you did something that you wanted to do instead of what you thought was expected of you.
