Virility

Photographer Alex Charovas, provided us with an exclusive series of self studies. Whilst transcending from the personal, Virility gives us a glimpse of the artist’s perception of masculinity.

Strongly influenced by Edward Weston and Greek and Roman sculptures, these retrospective black and white images explore the muscular male body without exaggerating neither idolising it. Full of curves, lines and shades, in an endeavour to discover an untamed virility, sometimes seems heroic, others vulnerable.
