Sifis
My name is Joseph Farantakis and I am 21 years old. Friends and family call me Sifis. It’s a local name in Crete where I come from. I used to live in Chania until I was 18 years old, then I moved to Thessaloniki, in northern Greece for my University studies on Physical Education & Sports Science. I love playing sports that’s why my favorite hobbies are Gym, Running, Swimming and Diving.
When did you start modelling?
When I moved to Thessaloniki I was wondering if I can join a model agency. So that’s how it all started at the age of 18.
How did you get scouted?
I just applied through a model’s agency website and they wanted to meet me.
Who are the models you aspire(d) to?
I really like Sean O’Pry. I used to like other models too, but he is my favourite right now.
What would be your dream modelling job?
My dream job would be a Worldwide Calvin Klein underwear campaign or a fragrance campaign.
Tell as few words about your experience in GNTM (Greece’s Next Top Model)?
It was a very nice and special experience. It was difficult because of the conditions. A lot of pressure, anxiety and antagonism.
Has it helped with you career and if so how?
The show helped me to be famous in Greece.
In an industry that is based on appearances, how do you handle rejection?
Just be cool, everything happens for a reason.
From your perspective, how do you think the fashion industry can improve?
The industry has changed radically for the better over the past few years. It’s more open more diverse and more inclusive however I am still drawn to the golden age of the fashion industry, the 90’s and the supermodels of that period.
What’s your favourite project/shoot you’ve done so far?
I really like all my shoots. I believe my favorite is the one that haven’t done yet.
Tell us something we wouldn’t know by looking at your portfolio?
I was overweight as a kid.
What’s your favourite characteristic? (Physical or personality)
I am very determined. if I set my mind on something- I succeed.
What’s you motto in life.
(if others can do it) Why not you?
